Description
This six-hour educational program examines two interconnected dimensions of skilled nursing facility leadership: the economic, operational and quality forces that shape SNF performance, and resident-centered clinical care and communication. The morning session, presented by Jay Gormley, provides an integrated overview of SNF reimbursement, census and payer mix, staffing, clinical acuity, quality measures, Five-Star ratings, survey performance, Medicare Advantage, value-based care, margins, valuations and access to capital. The afternoon session, presented by Michael V. Webb, focuses on swallowing changes, dysphagia, evaluation pathways, IDDSI diets, MDS/PDPM implications, resident rights and effective family conversations regarding diet changes, refusals, feeding tubes and eating with acknowledged risk. Together, the sessions give administrators a practical framework for understanding how reimbursement, operations, quality, clinical decisions, communication and regulation interact in day-to-day facility performance.
