During the COVID-19 pandemic, providers across the continuum of care turned to telehealth as a strategy to reduce the spread of infection while delivering effective care. As the promise of telehealth became a reality, patients, providers and payors realized a trifecta of healthcare benefits in the form of reduced costs, improved outcomes, and increased patient satisfaction. Early on, federal and state policymakers met the challenges of the pandemic by expanding access to telehealth reimbursement and eliminating regulatory hurdles.
